Rabbi Seth Oppenheimer was ordained in the ALEPH smicha program. In the summer of 2021 he stepped down from 14 years as spiritual leader of B’nai Israel in Columbus, MS and retired from 33 years as a faculty member at Mississippi State University. He is currently Chair of Mathematics and Associate Dean for Alumni and Community Relations in the College of Science and Mathematics of Augusta University in Augusta, GA.
Rabbi Karyn Berger is a long-time member of OHALAH, receiving smicha from Reb Zalman in 2006. She has served as a military Chaplain and Rabbi n the United States Army since 2011, serving in a wide variety of locations in the United States and abroad. In her time in the military, Karyn has deployed to Afghanistan, as well as to Kuwait, Iraq, Serbia, and most recently, to Poland as part of the United States effort to support NATO operations in Central Europe. Her work int he army has focused on helping people of all faith backgrounds work together, gaining strength through their unique spiritual beliefs. This year, Karyn was awarded a fellowship with Eilu v'Eilu, an organization that partners with faith communities across religious, political and racial divides to confront and break down toxic polarization in our society.
