Pain: Hearing the Call –
Responding with Mind, Body and Spirit

Rabbi Ken Rosenstein and Rabbi Tsurah August

Date & Time Workshop: Wed. Jan. 11, 2023 10:45am-12:00pm MT

The Kol of Pain can be loud or a whisper; physical, emotional or spiritual. Pain can feel like a thief or a wise counselor.  In this interactive, interdisciplinary workshop, we will explore how pain speaks and guides us - and how each one of us answers its call.  We will share scientific research and Jewish sources on pain - however the heart of the session will be individual exploration and sharing, via a choice of journaling, poetry, visual art, movement and music.  Participants are invited to bring works that they have already created on this topic, and bring their own journals and art supplies, if desired.

Rabbi Tsurah August combines her background in chaplaincy, counseling, interdisciplinary arts and rabbinics, to create interactive workshops, presented nationally and internationally.  Her recent recording, Nachamu: Jewish Songs and Chants for Your Comfort, is on YouTube.  She received Smicha from Reb Zalman and Aleph, and was ordained by AJR.

Rabbi Ken Rosenstein received s'mikha from the Aleph Rabbinic Program in 2018. Ken writes Jewish poetry and creates new midrashim. Ken has authored a volume of poetry - Time, Space, and Soul: A Three-Fold Cord/Chord, publishes by Albion-Andalus Press. Available via Amazon.com.
