The Talmud States, "When a person makes oneself like wilderness ... Torah is given as a gift." In the wilderness Israel receives the Mishkan, the Priesthood, Torah and so much more. The small still voice is heard in the wilderness. These ancient understandings remain relevant today. As Reb Zalman teaches, revelation must remain open today in this tenuous paradigm shift. The wilderness remains a crucial source of revelation. Join Rabbi Zelig Golden, Founder of Wilderness Torah, to explore wilderness in the Jewish mind and by exploring stories about the power of going to the wilderness now.
Rabbi Zelig’s vision earth-based Jewish tradition developed from a lifetime of nature connection, Jewish leadership, and environmental advocacy. Zelig received rabbinic ordination from ALEPH, supported by the Wexner Graduate Fellowship. He was ordained Maggid by Reb Zalman, ztz”l, and holds a Masters in Jewish Studies from the Graduate Theological Union. Zelig received rabbinic ordination from ALEPH, Alliance for Jewish Renewal, supported by the Wexner Graduate Fellowship, and was previously ordained Maggid by Rabbi Zalman Schacter-Shalomi ztz”l. He holds a Masters in Jewish Studies from the Graduate Theological Union. He previously worked as an environmental lawyer protecting food and farms and has long guided groups into the wilderness."
