  Midrash is a technique of understanding not only ancient Scripture, but also our own lives, times, identities, and values.  Poetry can function as midrash in helping us explore these very same avenues of inquiry. My new book of poems, "Headstone," will be published in October 2022.  In this collection I examine the lives of many who have come before me from Biblical times to the present.

  Mark Elber, ordained by ALEPH in 2012, serves as rabbi of Temple Beth El in Fall River, MA.   He is the author of "The Everything Kabbalah Book," "The Sacred Now: Cultivating Jewish Spiritual Consciousness," and his latest book, "Headstone."  He earned his MFA in poetry from Warren Wilson College.
