Call for Proposals: Lizkor et Ha Brit - To Remember the Covenant: Inspiring Hope and Vision
OHALAH 2020 conference (Sunday, January 12 thru Wednesday evening, January 15, 2020)
– Pre-conference Shabbaton (Friday, January 10 thru Sunday, January 12, 2020) – Aleph Smicha/Ordination Ceremony (Sunday, January 12, 2020) Omni Interlocken Resort, Broomfield, CO |
“I will remember my covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature (Genesis 9:15).” “And Elohim heard their cry and remembered the covenant with Avraham, Yitzhak and Ya’akov (Exodus 2:24).” Just as cries of the Hebrew slaves stirred the memory of G!d’s covenant with our ancestors, how shall we live into the Covenant that followed the Great Flood in this time of turmoil and critical environmental distress? How do we understand our covenantal relationship with the Earth and all her creatures, with all people around the planet, and with the G!d Stream, the Shefa, that flows through each of us? How can we activate our 2020 vision to penetrate a paralyzing darkness and reveal the light of hopeful action? Together we will explore our covenantal relationships, our dreams, and our call to serve.
Completed proposals were due Monday, July 15. Proposals are no longer being accepted.
We are thrilled to announce that our featured keynote is Rabbi Ruth Gan Kagan and Nava Tehila. Ruth is a beloved in ALEPH. She is the founder and spiritual leader of Nava Tehila and teaches classes and workshops on Jewish Spirituality in Israel and world-wide. Their teaching will be a deep dive into text regarding our brit with the earth. Nava Tehila will entertain us with a concert on Sunday night, January 12 in addition to teaching and leading some davenning during the conference.
We will once again be meeting at the Omni Interlocken in Broomfield, CO.
We invite proposals for workshops (60, 75, or 90 minutes, or 3 hours) on relevant, related topics including, but not limited to:
We are especially interested in workshops that include text study in small groups. We invite workshop proposals from all members of OHALAH and the RPA. We welcome proposals from student members of OHALAH. The Program Committee selects from proposals submitted via this RFP only, aiming to create an excellent program that balances topics, new and returning teachers, different learning modalities, and teachers with different kinds of smicha. We will also be soliciting workshop proposals from an array of environmental organizations in the greater Boulder area.
If you are not staying for the entire conference, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. Your workshop may be scheduled at the same time as a workshop given by our featured keynote. Workshops are never scheduled at the same time as plenary sessions.
